Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This website is operated by Hunter Ashford ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through this site and how we use it.

What we collect

If you join our reader list or ask for a free book, we collect your email address and, on the pages that ask for it, your first name. That is the only information you type in, and it is the only information we hold about you.

We also record when and where you subscribed, so we can show that you asked to hear from us.

If you allow advertising cookies (see below), Meta receives technical information about your visit, such as your IP address, your browser and which of our pages you opened.

We do not collect payment details. Purchases of our books are handled entirely by Amazon under Amazon's own privacy policy.

How we use it

Your email address is used solely to send you the newsletter you signed up for: book release news, reading extras, and occasional updates from Hunter Ashford. We use a double opt-in process — you will only receive emails after confirming your subscription by clicking a link sent to your address.

Cookies and advertising

We advertise our books on Facebook and Instagram. To see which of those ads actually bring readers here, our landing pages can load the Meta pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms that sets a cookie on your device and tells Meta that a visit, a sign-up or a confirmation happened. It tells Meta nothing about what you read in the book.

Whether we ask you first depends on where you are:

Changing your mind. Where the banner applies, every page carries a Cookie choice link in the footer that brings it back, so withdrawing is as easy as consenting. Clearing your browser's data for this site also resets the choice.

Separately, the pages with a sign-up form load Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is being filled in by a person and not by a bot. It is required for the form to work at all, so it runs without asking, and it is not used for advertising or to follow you around.

For visitors outside the European Union, we also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, which site sent the visitor, the country, the type of device and how fast pages load. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not identify you or follow you to other sites, so it runs without asking.

Besides that, we use no session recording and no third-party advertising beyond the pixel described here. Our own pages use a small amount of browser storage to remember your cookie choice; that never leaves your device.

What we never do

We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their marketing. We never send email on behalf of anyone else, and we never add addresses to our list that did not explicitly subscribe.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send contains a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are honored immediately. You can also write to us at the address below at any time to be removed.

Data retention and your rights

We keep your email address and your consent record (date, time, and source of your subscription) for as long as you remain subscribed, and as required to demonstrate compliance afterward. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Service providers

Our newsletter is delivered using established email infrastructure providers acting as data processors on our behalf. Our website is served by Cloudflare, which may process technical data (such as IP addresses) to provide security and performance.

Where you have accepted advertising cookies, or where they load by default as described above, Meta Platforms receives the visit data covered in that section and handles it under its own terms.

Governing law

This site and policy are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States.
